It’s Monday. The most hated day of the week. We wake up on these mornings knowing we’re as far away from the weekend as we will ever be, and that in itself can set the tone for our day. So how can you make the most of this Monday?

Here are 4 things that might just improve your day:

1. Be grateful

How would you have felt if you didn’t wake up this morning? Other than cold obviously? What if you didn’t have a job? Starting your day with an attitude of gratitude can set the tone for your week and give you something to smile about this Monday morning. It maybe something you overlook, or take for granted but this monday, find something to be grateful for and you will feel better after.

2. Smile

Now that we are grateful, it should be easy enough for us to smile. Smiling makes you and those around you feel better, surely that’s more than enough of a reason to do it.

3. Be Organised

Take some time this Monday morning and write down some key objectives for your week. Check your diary and make sure you are prepared for all the meetings and deadlines that are ahead, and, make sure you are still able to do what you said you would, when you said you would. Then, of all the things you need to do, choose one that you know you can complete today. Completing it will give you a boost and help you continue your week in the same way. If there’s nothing you can finish today, decide what a ‘good day’ of progress would ‘look like’ on a certain project and use that as your guide to create some milestones that are measurable. 4. Do something you love

Life is too short to be all about work. Make sure you take some time today, and every day, to do something you love and are passionate about. If you love music, take 20 minutes to listen to your favourite tracks from your favourite albums. If you know your purpose, do something that is linked to that. Even the shortest amount of time will make a difference.

Bonus

If you’re like me, you will probably need some time to create an environment that promotes productivity. I really struggle to work and keep my focus in a messy space, so after a quick twitter chat with my mate Lavina, who was herself, doing some early spring cleaning while having some time off, I decided to tidy my desk and in fact my entire office. It made the world of difference. I got more done on the days following my clean up than I have done in a long time, and now, I actually look forward to going into my office, knowing that like a freshly made bed, my tidy office is waiting for me.

I know that none of these things are earth shattering or overly significant, but I have found that it’s the small, simple things that help me make my days great. Let me know if this has been useful and please feel free to share it with a friend.

Have a GREAT day!
